Enjoying a slow day with Ramen and Matcha

Another slow Thursday. Everyone’s waiting for that TGIF and weekend. Weather has been so hot these days that just makes you want to sleep.
Prodigal still is planning his coming Japan trip. To be honest I hate planning for trips. I am that kind of person who can just go anywhere on an impulse with no planning but when you have to bring people around you got to plan. No choice but to plan else will end up sleeping at the roadside especially July-August is a peak period due to many festival around Japan. Not forgetting the Obon season where people return to their hometown.
There’s this saying “you can’t fight a war without an empty stomach” One has to eat in order to do work. That’s brings me to one of my favourite food, Ramen.

Tonkotsu Ramen at Keisuke Tonkotsu King (Tanjong Pagar)

Keisuke Tonkotsu King serves one of the finest ramen in Singapore. It’s one of my favourite place to eat great japanese noodles. The soup is smooth and flavourful and chashu has a nice roasted taste. Paired with black fungus, it’s a bowl of near perfection.
Although the ramen is delicious, I don’t particular like this outlet. The outlet is a tad to small and cramp to slowly enjoy the ramen. (I understand it’s lunch hours but I’m made to share table with not 1 but 2 groups of 3s? That’s not very nice. I’ll rather wait for counter seat actually but I’m not given a choice.) Next, in a world where we are moving to cashless payment. This outlet (any many other Keisuke’s outlet) only accepts Cash. It’s kind of inconvenient as I don’t really carry much cash nowadays. (credit card, Apple Pay, Android Pay are so much convenient these days and sometimes they offer perks to make it more enticing to spend)
Time to get things done after filling the stomach. A necessary thing for my Japan trip will be the JR Pass.
What’s a JR Pass?
Japan Rail Pass, a joint offering of the six companies comprising the Japan Railways Group (JR Group), is the most economical means of travelling throughout Japan by rail. The Japan Rail Pass can be used on all JR Shinkansen lines within the areas covered, except for travel on Nozomi and Mizuho trains on the Tokaido, Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen lines.
It can only be bought outside of Japan and only applicable for non-Japanese tourists with the Temporary Visitor entry status.
Where’s the best place to buy a JR Pass? The Japan Rail Cafe!

What’s a Japan Rail Cafe without Japan Rail related interior decoration.

It’s quiet packed during the lunch hours as the nearby office people come down for lunch, after the lunch hours it makes a good place to enjoy a cuppa matcha. You can just come down this place and take some photos and trick your friends that you are in Japan πŸ˜›

As a tea lover, How could I missed out the chance of having some great matcha and especially it’s a seasonal menu item. I just had to order this Hokkaido Azuki Cream Matcha.

Hokkaido Azuki Cream Matcha

Do you know that Azuki (red bean) is not a stable crop however, it grows really well in the cold climate of Hokkaido. I’m not a fan of azuki but the sweet azuki and complements the Uji Matcha like a match made in Heaven. It’s not too sweet and the cream makes the matcha smoother.

You definitely don’t want to share this perfect cup with anyone. Look at Danboard face and you know it.
